Throwback Thursday: Quick Look at Bexley Gaston’s Special Reserve + Diamine Ancient Copper
The days are shorter and the weather is cooler. But thankfully, I still have pen + ink combos from the summer to look back on. This week it’s a match up from my August line-up.
Handwritten Review
Pen: Bexley Gaston’s Special Reserve M
Ink: Diamine Ancient Copper
Paper: Rhodia No. 16 Grid
Gosh, I love this ink. Look at the shading! It’s great. Light yellow/orange to deep red. I love it!!!
This nib really shows off the beauty of this ink. I’m reminded again and again that this Bexley nib is wonderful. I don’t mind the M on this nib. It’s just right.
It’s ok to flex a little but don’t push too hard!
Diamine made a great ink here. Well behaved. Seems smoother than Diamine Teal. But, but…what? I dunno. Fell asleep!
It’s well behaved on Rhodia and most papers I used. No feathering, ghosting or bleeding.

I think that sums it up quite well. Ancient Copper is a beautiful colour. The Bexley has a beautiful red-brown resin. Great match.
It's been a few months since I last posted a Currently Inked. Over this time, I've experimented with the number of pens I have inked up at any time. At one point I had as many as 12 pens inked. It got to be a bit too much to manage. Too many pens to track and maintain. Now I'm trying to keep to 6 inked pens with a complete refresh every month.
