Throwback Thursday: Noodler's Ahab and Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki

This is another early pen and ink review I did. The Ahab came about after I fell into the rabbit hole of flexible nibs. I had purchased the Platinum Cool first, enjoyed it, then decided to throw in an Ahab along with a set of Goulet nibs with an order of the Goulet Pen Cleaning and Tuning Package.

I got the Kon-Peki because it's so highly regarded by many folks in the pen community. No doubt I was excited to try both and no better way to do it than as a pen and ink combo.

Handwritten Review

New pen-decided to have a little fun with Noodler's. This is my first Noodler's. It's ok. functional. I like the flexing. It is fun to flex.

Now more importantly is this ink. Heard lots of good things about Kon-Peki and it doesn't disappoint. It's a nice dark blue but not a black-blue. Nice nice shading. Let me try to flex this pen some more to show it off.

Kon-Peki rocks!!!

Closing comments

In a way, this quick and dirty review was like a first impressions view. Not too much substance. I was just testing things out. My comments were reserved since I didn't have high hopes for the Ahab. I couldn't tell if it was writing well or not. It did railroad a bit as shown in the picture in various places. I do enjoy the movement of flex writing though.

I've had Kon-Peki the longest and dipped into this bottle many times. I think I've tried it at least once on all the pens that I have. I seriously love it, especially when it sheens on the right paper. You can see it in this close up. Great shading and cool red sheen. The sheen is definitely more prominent using a wider nib like a 1.1 mm stub...but that's a Throwback Thursday for another day.
