Currently Inked: April 2016

Tracking of my pen and ink combinations in a central place has helped my senile mind greatly.  I still feel the choice of using the Tomoe River Notebook bound by Coach House Press for Wonderpens for my Currently Inked log is a good one.  Great paper in a nice form factor.

It was a little hard to choose the new inks this month due to the number of holdovers from last month.  It was kind of unfortunate I was forced to top up a few pens with 3 days left in March to accommodate a one-day out of town trip.  But, it's all good as long as I have pens with ink to write with.

Anyway, this post is a bit later than I intended do to the trip and trickle down effect to my other work and personal life.  Hopefully I'm back to posting regularly now.

Inked Pen Line-Up

Pen and ink combinations

HOLDOVERS (In order of appearance in line-up)

Holdovers

Pen: Franklin-Christoph 66 Stabilo Ice Matsyama Needlepoint
Ink: Sailor Yama-Dori
Amazingly, this eye-dropper is still going strong. With that fine needlepoint nib and huge capacity, this one is feeling a bit like the Energizer Bunny. I love Yama-Dori but I think it's time for a change.

Pen:Franklin-Christoph Model 20 Translucent Bronze Music
Ink: Bungbox Kotohogi Kurenai
One of the new pen and inks I got late in March.

Pen: Franklin-Christoph Pocket 40 Blue-Violet and Ice 1.1
Ink: Bungbox Hatsuyume Aofuji
A new ink I got late in March and a re-activation of a pen that I had set aside pending the resolution of a cracked cap.

I'm hoping by the middle of April I can clean out all the Franklin-Christophs and eye-dropper the trio.

Pen:Edison LE Mina EF
Ink: Waterman Mysterious Blue
A new pen that I got in middle of March that I had paired with a matching ink I had on hand.

Pen: Platinum 3776 Sai M
Ink: Sailor Shigure
I was used up almost all the Shigure in this pen by the end of March but a daytrip to NYC made me top it up again. I love this combo though so I'm happy to use this for a little longer.

NEW (In order of appearance in line-up)

Newly inked

Pen: Kaweco Brass Sport EF
Ink: Diamine Amber
I'm ready to ditch the dreary grey winter weather and thought this sunny yellow would help.

Pen: OMAS Ogiva Alba EF Extra Flessibile
Ink: Diamine Ancient Copper
I thought this wonderful shading and sheening ink would pair well with this Flessibile nib.

Pen: Pilot/Namiki Vanishing Point Galaxy Raden M
Ink: Diamine Teal
This pen was also topped up with it's March ink, Shin-Kai, for my daytrip to NYC. But the good thing (and also bad thing, depending on perspective and use-case) is that the converter capacity is not great, and the medium nib is juicy. Hence, within a couple days of returning home, it was ready for cleaning and new ink.

Diamine Teal is a new ink that I got recently in the cute mini-bottles.

Pen: Lamy 2000 EF
Ink: Noodler's Raven Black
As usual, I'm pairing my proper work pen with a proper dark grey or black. This time, it's all about the black.

So how many pens do you have inked up for April? What are your favourite pen and ink combos?
